Human Rights

The most fundamental work in the dutch UNESCO collection is the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR). Adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948, the UDHR promises to guarantee the rights of every individual everywhere.

Education

UNESCO considers education as a fundamental human right, essential for the exercise of all other human rights. Education promotes individual freedom and empowerment and yields important development benefits. Many UNESCO books, videos and projects are dedicated to this subject.

World Heritage

Furthermore, world heritage can be considered as one of the UNESCO cornerstones. Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Our cultural, natural and immaterial heritages are irreplaceable sources of life and inspiration.
